I’m guessing same bat time, same bat place for October?  Good rollup for September guys!

How does everyone feel about the next meeting being 27-9-8, same bat time, same bat channel. We had a good turn out last time and I think it was beneficial for all. If you have anything pressing you would like to discuss, please mention it at the next meeting.

It’s official, another meeting. This meeting I thought we would continue to look at the menu options on offer and start on making a simple website.

Last week I took the opportunity to register our KJUG with Joomla as an official Joomla group. Well I just received an email from the President of Open Source Matters, the main body for Joomla, and we are now on the list.  I am all-a-buzz. If you look on the list you will see that most of the entries are country or large city groups. We are the first, as far as I can see, to be a small town! How’s that, another first for Kiama!!

Anyway, bathe in the glory, we are now officially part of the World of Joomla!

After our chat yesterday Tim, thought I would try and have a play and see what I remembered.  Well nothing!!!  Can you help me get into Joomla again so I can start playing again.  I have a shortcut on my desktop to htdocs which then takes me to a list of files:  contrib, forbidden, Old htdocs, restricted, xampp, joomla153.  Have opened all these folders but nothing looks familiar,  can you guide me on what I click on to get into Joomla as we did that day at work so I can start playing.

I suggest the next meeting as the 30th of August. If there are any objections, please let me know. As the agenda has not really moved on, we will just continue to look at the menu options in order.

Please note there is a new version of Joomla 1.5.5. It deals with some security issue from the last update. 1.6 is due in Oct 2008, with some features, so we can expect some new features.

I very pleased to announce a new member to our group. Helen, from Gerringong is interested in using Joomla. She is a website maintenance officer for a local business and she has interests in learning Joomla. Welcome aboard Helen. I hope to see you at our next meeting.

Like all of you, she is to confront XAMPP installation, but with a bit of help, she will get over the initial “hump” and with a bit of help from the xamppers, will be brought up tp speed to where we are up to in using the CMS Joomla.
